Patriots Linebacker and in my opinion future Hall of Famer Teddy Bruschi has annouced his retirement. He spent 13 years with the Pats, instilling fear into NFL offenses. The man only played one way, and that was balls out, non-stop, every play! Teddy was an absolute field general on defense. Not only is he a great leader, but he was a great teammate, always willing to help fellow teammates on and off the field. Those are just some of the intangables that makes him a future Hall of Famer, he also has the stats to prove it. Starting with his 3 super bowl rings (5 super bowl apperances) his Pats teams also have 8 AFC East titles. Bruschi is responsible for 30.5 sacks, 12 interceptions, 4 of which he took back for touchdowns. He also has the Pats record for playoff games at 22. Last, but not least, was when he won the 2005 comeback player of the year award after suffering a minor stroke. Quoting his former coach Bill Belichick "He was the perfect player", and just maybe Coach Belichick has this one right.

Thanks Brian. As a 10 year (the length i've been a Pats/NFL fan) Bruschi fanatic it's great to know he was known as a great by those who are not even Pats fans. This comment really hits me deep.
ReplyDeleteGet ready to get hit again Robert. I hate the Patriots but love Teddy. I think he was an amazing linebacker, but more importantly an amazing person. Teddy let his play speak for him. He is a very humble man and I respect him greatly. I wish more players were like him both on and off the field. Teddy understands the importance of life and that he is blessed to play a child's game for a living. Teddy you will be missed (not by the Dolphins, Bills and Jets) and never forgotten. Now go enjoy your retirement. Teddy = classy, silent punisher on the field.
